Background:

I’m Ian Tripp, a professional drummer and drum/percussion teacher based in Brighton. I trained at the Guildhall School of Music (class of 2004), and since then I’ve had opportunities to perform and record around the world — from Australia to Uruguay — including sessions at Abbey Road and Maida Vale. Over the past 20+ years I’ve taught over 1,000 students, guiding them through everything from basic rhythm and technique, to graded exams (Trinity Rock & Pop), band rehearsals, and real performance settings. Whether you’re just starting out or pushing toward advanced levels, my lessons are tailored to your goals. I believe drumming should be fun, expressive, and deeply musical. I offer both online and in-person lessons, and I’m also a professor of Drum Kit / Percussion at Christ’s Hospital School in Horsham.
